EIFF – Day 7
Really short day with only one film consumed. I did manage to be around for Aubrey Plaza arriving on the red carpet. The Press & Industry screening I attended was the Joanna Coates directed Hide and Seek.
Four young people move from London to a house in the English countryside. They do this to challenge social conventions with scheduled partner swapping. Complications arise when an outsider who isn’t as open minded as they are appears.
I was not a fan of this film at all. I’m not sure if it was going out of its way to be hugely explicit or not but it certainly came across as that for me. I could see what the film was going for and challenging established monogamous relationship norms is an interesting idea but I don’t feel that the film explored these very well. There was little done with the emotional complications that surely must arise from such an experiment and the characters weren’t especially engaging. Really not for me this film.
Aubrey Plaza Red Carpet
actress Aubrey Plaza and directore Jeff Baena arrived for the public screening of their new film Life After Beth and spent some time on the red carpet to be photographed. I took some pictures and the can be found below. There’s some zombies in the mix too.
