The Review at the End of the Universe
“Legends of the Lasat” Star Wars Rebels focuses on Zeb as he is faced with his past when the Ghost crew help two members of his species find a new home. This show has had such an uneven second season so far. Even the really good ideas are somewhat butchered in their execution to the…
“The Protector of Concord Dawn” Star Wars Rebels gives Sabine another chance to be the focal point of an episode and delves into her Mandalorian past. My familiarity with the Star Wars Expanded Universe is fairly patchy but I understand that Mandalorians are kind of a big deal. Boba Fett wears Mandalorian armour and is…
“A Princess on Lothal” Star Wars Rebels returns with the first episode of 2016 and the first outing since the release of Star Wars Episode VII – The Force Awakens. This episode introduces Princess Leia (Julie Dolan) to the continuity of the show. Princess Leia is a character that makes sense to introduce to the…
“Legacy” Star Wars Rebels deals with the lingering question of what happened to Ezra’s parents when he has a vision giving him clues to their fate. The fate of Ezra’s parents has been a mystery that has been in the background since the show began. It has heavily informed his character development and created interesting…
“The Future of the Force” Finally, Star Wars Rebels makes some progress on a continuing story and lets us see Ahsoka in action for the first time since her return. Darth Vader’s plan to bring in Force Sensitive children for reasons that are yet unclear. He could simply be rounding them up to make sure…
“Stealth Strike” So, apparently Star Wars Rebels wasn’t on hiatus last week like every other show I cover on a Thursday so my apologies for that. On the plus side you’re getting a double bill of Star Wars Rebels today, Kneel Before Blog style! This episode has a bit of a buddy comedy vibe to…
“Blood Sisters” Star Wars Rebels gives one of the more underdeveloped characters some much needed screen time when Sabine gets an episode focused entirely on her. I’ve mentioned in my previous reviews that Sabine is vastly underdeveloped in ways that hurt the show. She is an interesting character with a heavily implied backstory that is…
“Wings of the Master” Star Wars Rebels finally allows characters that aren’t Kanan and Ezra to have some time to develop with an episode focused on Hera who leads a mission to acquire a new ship to help the Rebel cause. It’s great to see Hera get the focus as she has been sorely lacking…
“Brothers of the Broken Horn” Season 2 of Star Wars Rebels seems to be fixated on bringing back characters who appeared on The Clone Wars and show them in a post Empire context. It’s not a bad idea and if done right then can really enhance the mythology of the show. If done poorly then…
“Always Two There Are” Star Wars Rebels introduces not one but two Inquisitors that will hunt the Ghost crew for -I presume- the entire season while Ezra, Sabine, Zeb and Chopper are on a mission to retrieve medical supplies. This episode felt a little bit disjointed tonally. It tries to juggle horror, drama, action and…
